Our Services

Catharine's Quality of Life Homes offers a wide range of supportive services specifically designed to help residents function at their highest level of independence, maximize their remaining strengths, and focus on preserving their sense of accomplishment and self-worth.

Supervision

  • Dick and Penny are active, hands-on owners/operators who work in their homes on a daily basis. They, and the house manager, manage the day-to-day home operations by monitoring the on-going care needs of the residents in addition to providing supportive staff oversight.
  • Dick and Penny closely monitor resident care needs and communicate openly and directly with resident families and resident doctors. Through daily wellness checks subtle medical problems have been identified. Such timely observation and communication have literally saved the lives of a number of our residents.
  • Dick and Penny assess all potential residents. Comprehensive assessment is important as it helps us set appropriate expectations. Most assessments of individuals with Alzheimer's disease focus on their problems. At Catharine's our assessment differs in that we also focus on what strengths and abilities remain. In this way, we can better help your loved-one function at their highest level of independence.
  • Ongoing assessments are important. It simply will not work to assess the person with dementia once or twice a year. We must "check the traffic" daily and adjust our expectations of the person accordingly.
  • Ongoing assessments are important.  It simply will not work to assess the person with dementia once or twice a year.  We perform regular assessments to identify subtle cognitive and physical changes.  We as caregivers then accept these changes and adapt our care-giving techniques to better meet our residents’ needs and maximize their quality of life.
