Activities

The mind may have forgotten, but the heart still remembers the joy of a warm smile, gentle touch and special hug.

Whether congregating around the dining room table and reminiscing over old photos or under the weeping-willow tree in our backyard tending the garden, our residents are involved in numerous small-group, daily activities designed to meet their individualized needs and provide mental, physical and social stimulation. Activities focus on the "joy of doing" not the finished product. We encourage activities that stimulate the senses, and are positive, upbeat, and life-affirming. In our homes, our family members don't passively observe life; they actively live it.
Family-oriented activities, personalized from residents' "Life Stories", add meaning to our residents' lives and bring smiles to their faces.

Activities include:

  • Daily Exercises
  • Daily walks in the neighborhood or backyard
  • Feeding ducks, geese & squirrels in our backyards and ponds
  • Gardening and indoor plant care
  • Music/Dance Therapy
  • Manicures and nail polishing
  • Baking projects
  • Arts/Crafts
  • Games
  • Pet Therapy
  • Aroma Therapy
  • Reminiscing albums and photos
  • Elder trivia
  • Word search and jigsaw puzzles (appropriate for specific Alzheimer's stages)
  • Old-time movies, musicals and travelogues
  • Reading aloud
  • Activity baskets (stage appropriate)
  • Daily newspaper discussions and calendar orientation
  • Daily Household Tasks that many residents have enjoyed their entire lives are available at their new home. These activities provide persons with a sense of being needed and a personal sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. These include cooking, setting the table, washing dishes, folding laundry, vacuuming and handyman projects.
We encourage each resident's family to visit their loved one as often as possible whether to join in an activity or simply relax and share a cup of coffee. At our homes you have the peace of mind in knowing that your loved one is treated with kindness, understanding and respect as part of a loving family.
